Relationship Marketing for Coaches - It Starts With Your List

Relationship marketing is a natural fit for coaches who are looking to get more coaching clients. What do I mean by relationship marketing? I mean building a following of people within your niche who are interested in your information and services. Building relationships with them so that they can see the value of working with you and so they know you, like you and trust you enough that they will happily pay you to coach them. In this article we are going to look at how you can get started with relationship marketing.

In order to build relationships with people in your niche who are interested in what you have to offer, you need a method of keeping in touch with them. You are not merely looking to present them with information and promotions occasionally. You are looking to engage them in ongoing two-way interaction. The best way to do this is by inviting them to subscribe to your email list.

Once someone opts to join your email list they are giving you permission to keep in touch with them. It is important to realize that in this kind of relationship marketing you really should be keeping in touch with them on a personal level. By that I mean sending them emails and inviting interaction.

Many coaches make the mistake of working hard to attract subscribers and then simply sending them a newsletter once a month. Although newsletters can be very useful they are not the ideal method for building relationships. So, once someone joins your list you need to email them, send them useful content, and interact with them. Interaction is the way to build relationships. So ask your subscribers questions. Ask them what kind of help they are looking for - and provide them with it.

I hope you can see that relationship building is a great way for you to go about business building, and that it all starts with list building. If you don't have a list of subscribers then you don't have a group of people within your market with whom you can build ongoing relationships. If you don't have a list then all your marketing efforts are simply a scatter shot approach. I hope that you are not using all your marketing time on methods that don't bring you consistent results.
